Wandering around in the Everglades one is apt to run across alligators just about everywhere you go. Most are small, maybe 3 or 4 feet, maybe 6 or 7 feet, but once in awhile I would come across a really big one. This one I estimated at least 12 feet long although I will assure you I did not pause for a more accurate measurement with a tape rule. The insane guide offered to let me pet the gator's head, but I declined due to modesty. The guide was lucky he did not become gator nuggets after that offering. Anyway, I did get a photo and this is the painting.
